Hi everyone, I wanted to add some resources for LGBTQ+ accountants and our allies. I know there are a lot of resources out there, and google can pull up a lot of them, so here are some to help you get started.
Since this is an AICPA conference, let’s start with them:
Diversity & Inclusion | Resources | AICPA & CIMA
And our individual webpages for the resources:
• How to Advance from Idle to Ally to Advocate | Resources | AICPA & CIMA
• LGBTQ+ Self-ID Toolkit | Resources | AICPA & CIMA
• LGBTQ+ Inclusive Benefits Guide | Resources | AICPA & CIMA
• Counting on Inclusion: A beginner’s resource for launching an LGBTQ+ ERG at your accounting firm | Resources | AICPA & CIMA
I don’t know about the offerings from other national accounting organizations, so if you have any, please contact me so I can add them to this list!
Outside of the accounting world, here are some organizations that can be helpful:
The National LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce is a great starting place. There are chapters across the country. I know the chapter in Austin is very active and does a great job supporting our community.
Everywhere is Queer is a great resource for finding local businesses owned by members of the LGBTQ+ community and our allies.
Accounting Alchemy Network isn’t necessarily LGBTQ+ focused but it is run by people in our community. Here is their mission statement to help you get an idea of the great work they’re doing in our accounting space: To create a world where accounting professionals are a positive force in developing a sustainable & regenerative global ecosystem and culture.
The Human Rights Campaign (“HRC”)isa an organization working for LGBTQ+ rights.
PFLAG is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them.
