Hi there. I’m happy you’re taking the time to read this blog post. I’m just getting started with it and I want to take some time to give some more information about this site and plans for the future.
I realized a while back that there are a number of groups and organizations representing different minority groups, but I was never able to find a group supporting the LGBTQ accountants or our clients. I’m not ambitious enough to think I could create that group, but I thought a website like this would be a good start to help bring our community together.
Some of the organizations out there for other minority groups include the National Association of Black Accountants, the National Society of Black CPAS, Association of Latino Professionals in Finance & Accounting, and Accounting & Finance Women’s Alliance.
I started this website a year ago based on the website black.accountants that Nayo created. I wasn’t really sure how to use the site or promote it, but people started finding it on their own. I think in the very least, it shows there is a need for something targeted to the LGBTQ community in the accounting space.
Going forward, I’m planning to create some blog posts from guest bloggers and interviews with LGBTQ accountants to get their insight into how their experiences and with people looking for an LGBTQ accountant to help explain why it’s important to them to look for an LGBTQ accountant.
So stay tuned and see how this turns out. If you’d like to contribute with a guest blog or interview, please use let me know.
