Update: LGBTQIA+ Meetup at Intuit Connect and Introducing The Alliance: Pride in Numbers

In my last post, I shared some concerns regarding the upcoming LGBTQIA+ Meetup at Intuit Connect, mainly due to the lack of transparency about who was organizing the event. I’m happy to provide a positive update—after learning more about the event and its hosts, it appears to be a much better initiative than we originally thought. While we’re still waiting for more details, it seems like the meetup will be a good opportunity for community-building.

However, I’m even more excited to share some news about a new group we’re forming: The Alliance: Pride in Numbers. This is an LGBTQIA+ and Allies Roundtable and business group that Richard Roppa-Roberts, Dave Kersting, Rebeccah Johnson, and I are creating to foster a dedicated space for our community. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, supportive environment where LGBTQIA+ professionals and their allies can network, grow personally and professionally, and share their experiences.

The Alliance will host Roundtable discussions focused on overcoming challenges, sharing successes, and supporting one another in our unique journeys. Whether you’re new to the accounting profession or a seasoned pro, this group is designed to offer meaningful conversations and opportunities for growth.

Dave and Rebeccah will be attending Intuit Connect and will be sharing a QR code linked to a Google Form for anyone interested in joining The Alliance. If you’re attending the conference, make sure to connect with them, or you can directly sign up using this form. Even if you’re not attending, we’ll be sharing more details soon about how you can get involved.

I’m thrilled about this next step in building a stronger LGBTQIA+ community in the accounting profession, and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together!
